When is a fire safety report required? What is worth knowing about it?

A fire safety report is an important document, the purpose of which is, among other things, to determine the fire protection conditions of a building or installation. It contains requirements that must be met in the facility, an analysis of potential fire hazards, and recommendations for their prevention. What else do you need to know about it? You will find the necessary information in the article below.

When should a fire safety report be prepared?

Anyone who is required to obtain:

  • Waste collection permits
  • Waste treatment permits
  • Permits for waste generation

  • manages or plans to manage FLAMMABLE WASTE in the manner described above

must prepare a fire protection report or commission a specialist company to do so.

Fire protection report includes a thorough inspection of the indicated installations, the entire building or parts thereof, as well as places where waste is collected, processed or generated.

Who prepares the fire protection report?

Of course, this must be a person with the appropriate authorizations. However, if we want to precisely indicate the person responsible for preparing the fire protection report, we must take into account where the application will be submitted.

  • If it is to be the Regional Director for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) or the voivodeship marshal, an authorized expert in fire protection matters will be appointed.
  • If the application is submitted to the district office, a fire engineer or a person who has higher education in the field of fire safety engineering may be responsible for the fire protection report.

It is worth emphasizing that the fire protection report must be agreed with the Commander of the State Fire Service.

What does a fire safety report contain? What should it indicate?

In addition to formal issues, as well as current regulations and requirements, the content of the fire protection report is also of great importance. It must include information on the characteristics of the analyzed facility or installation. In the case of buildings, the area and number of floors are important. In addition, there is the distance of the facility from neighboring buildings.

Since the fire protection report focuses on fire hazards, it must describe and assess them so that the operating conditions of the facility or installation can be determined. It is also important to indicate fire protection guidelines. This includes, for example, designating fire zones, properly marking key locations, or ensuring appropriate evacuations in the event of a fire hazard.

What other information should be included in the fire protection report? The most important ones include:

  • method of securing utility installations,
  • fire scenarios,
  • determining the required fire protection equipment,
  • providing a fire road to the facility,
  • providing water for external fire extinguishing,
  • description of places where waste is stored, generated or processed.
